What were the biggest outbreaks of 2017?

Disease surveillance and outbreak prediction is a huge priority for public health, and there is ongoing research to improve our capacity for this. However, the biggest disease outbreak stories of the year are often those we don’t expect.

      This was put together based on the magnitude of case numbers throughout 2017, but both Lassa and Yellow fever were both also considerable outbreaks. Do you think in future this should be based on mortalities, as opposed to cases?
