World Tuberculosis Day takes place on March 24th, and in light of this we’re spending the month looking closer at this disease. Tuberculosis remains the top infectious cause of mortality globally, with low- and middle-income countries shouldering a large proportion of the burden, and also faces challenges regarding drug resistance.
In light of this, new diagnostics are urgently needed to reach difficult-to-diagnose cases, broaden the spectrum of drug-susceptibility testing and reduce the cost of diagnostic platforms. In this infographic we’ve looked at diagnostic assays, platforms and adjunct technologies currently in the pipeline for tuberculosis diagnostics, highlighting the stage of development and intended use.
