Research presented at the 28th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID; April 21– 24, Madrid), has reported that E. coli’s internal bomb – the toxin-antitoxin system – could be triggered to make bacteria turn on themselves, offering a new target for antimicrobial approaches in drug design.
