ECCMID18: Multi-use thermometers linked to large UK Candida auris outbreak

According to research presented at the 28th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID; 21–24 April, Madrid, Spain), an outbreak of Candida auris at Oxford University Hospitals’ Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NICU, Oxford, UK) was caused by multiple usage of patient monitoring equipment such as axillary thermometers, which measure the temperature at the armpit.
