ECCMID18: Biomarker identified for P. aeruginosa could act as treatment target

An easily measured gene has been linked to high mortality rate in patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa bloodstream infections, and could be used as a prognostic biomarker and potential treatment target in these individuals, according to research presented at the 28th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID; 21–24 April, Madrid, Spain).
