Can dietary fiber increase survival in influenza-infected mice?

A high-fiber diet can boost the immune response and increase survival in mice infected with influenza virus, according to new research.

A preclinical study, published in the most recent issue of the journal Immunity, has reported that dietary fiber dampens harmful immune responses in the lungs in addition to activating T cells and promoting antiviral immunity.
