Investigating the burden of infectious diseases in a refugee camp – an interview with Marta Tilli

This month has seen us focus on travel and migration – a theme of increasing importance in the modern-day world. In light of this we caught up with Marta Tilli (University of Florence, Italy) at the 28th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID; 21–24 April, Madrid, Spain), where she presented research on the burden of infectious diseases in the Moria refugee camp (Lesvos, Greece).

In this piece Marta tells us more about this work and also some of the challenges refugees face both in these camps and more generally.
