Hepatitis C-infected kidneys safe for transplantation

Twenty patients have been cured of hepatitis C virus (HCV) following lifesaving kidney transplants from donors who were infected with the disease, demonstrating that HCV-infected organs, which would otherwise go to waste, could be used for patients on transplant waiting lists.
