Nanoplasmonics used for monitoring biofilm formation

Researchers from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (Japan) have developed a method to study biofilm formation, and how it is affected by drugs, with high efficacy.

Bacterial biofilms possess intrinsic resistance to antibiotics and cleaning procedures, therefore a better understanding of their structure is critical in both medical and industrial applications.
