Early Career Panellist: Ashley Otter

Ash started studying microbiology at Cardiff University (UK) in 2011, where for his placement year he specialized in bacteriophages of Bacillus anthracis, the etiological agent of anthrax. Soon after completing his degree, he began as a PhD student working at Royal Veterinary College, University of London (UK) working on a project focused around human and bovine tuberculosis. Since finishing his PhD, Ash has now started as a research scientist at Microgenetics, a small biotechnology startup located just outside of Bath (UK), with focus on rapid microbial detection, particularly for bovine tuberculosis.
