The results of a new survey have suggested that nearly three-quarters of parents who saved leftover antibiotics gave them to others within and outside of their family, suggesting a need to step-up awareness efforts around antibiotic stewardship.
The study, which is being presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference (2–6 November, FL, USA), aimed to look at the extent to which parents divert antibiotics prescribed to their children, something that has not yet been investigated.
