A randomized control trial has begun in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of drugs for the treatment of Ebola patients. This trial is the first ever multi-drug trial for an Ebola treatment.
The trial forms part of a multi-outbreak, multi-country study agreed by partners under a WHO initiative. To-date, over 160 patients have been treated with investigational treatments under an ethical WHO framework; however, this was not designed to evaluate the drugs.
