The UK government has published a 20-year vision and a 5-year national action plan for how the UK will contribute to controlling and containing antimicrobial resistance by 2040.
The plan aims to cut drug-resistant infections 10% by 2025, reduce the use of human antibiotics by 15% and prevent at least 15,000 patients from contracting healthcare-associated infections each year by 2024. It also suggests that new technology can be used to gather real-time data, helping clinicians to prescribe appropriately.
