Micromotor formulation shows promise for oral vaccination

Researchers have developed a biomimetic, self-propelling micromotor vaccine formulation and demonstrated its effectiveness in delivering antigens against Staphylococcus aureus via an oral administration.

Oral vaccination is not only thought to have an easier administration compared with needle-based immunizations, but in addition, stimulating an immune response at the mucosal surface of the intestine is thought to stimulate a broader immune response and produce the antibodies IgA.
