What is the extent of SARS-CoV-2 immunity post-exposure?

The question of COVID-19 immunity is on everyone’s lips. It is crucial to understand how immunity develops post-exposure to the virus in order to evaluate the success of potential vaccine programs. 

A team of researchers from the University of Arizona Health Sciences (AZ, USA), led by Deepta Bhattacharya and Janko Nikolich-Zugich studied antibody production in almost 6000 people in order to gain a clearer understanding of the nature and longevity of the immunity acquired following infection with SARS-CoV-2, the viability of vaccines and the possibility of using them to achieve herd immunity.

The team revealed that antibodies for the virus are observed at levels capable of neutralizing the virus for at least 5 to 7 months…
