COVID-19 biomarkers identified that could diagnose and predict outcomes

Three blood metabolites have been identified by Canadian researchers that appear to be affected by COVID-19, which could be measured in an inexpensive blood screening test.

These biomarkers could be used to quickly screen for COVID-19 as well as predict which patients are likely to have the most severe consequences of COVID-19 infection. Another strategy could include administering these metabolites to patients as dietary supplements, potentially as a secondary or supplementary therapy.
